Christmas with Macie

Every year we get the girls together to do their own special Christmas. Michelle and Brandon, Jessica, Randy and Macie came to our house this year. We had planned on cooking a warm tasty soup and relaxing by the fire, but as you have read from my previous posts, we were out of time for that! So Christmas night everyone came over and opened presents. One highlight of the night was Macie teaching KK the "Ring around the Rosie" moves. It was so funny to watch. Here they are when you say "all fall down!"

December Milestones

Here in the Kula house we are busy chasing a lttle girl around the house at all times! She has the walking thing down and is on the move at all times! She no longer is that baby who would just sit there. {unless Backyardigans is on the TV}

She is cutting 4 molar teeth at the same time which means...lack of sleep for both her and mommy and daddy. We took her to the doctor because she was starting to run fever and pulling at her ears. The doctor gave her a clear bill of health and said she is cutting 4 back molars. One good thing out of the visit is we were able to see how much she weighs. Drumroll please....22lbs! Yes..she's our little roly poly!

Babbling or Talking?

Here lately, Miss KK is making a lot of noise! Some of it sounds like strands of jiberish and some of it is words. One of her favorite words to say is "MINE!!!!" Yes this is a mother's worse nightmare, but everything is screamed "MINE!"  She also loves to say "Back" to the dogs. We tried to teach her "Get Back" but she just says "Back."

She loves telling Gracie "Back" as she is pointing to her. :)

November Happenings

It is the middle of December and I am just now blogging about November happenings. I can't believe it but on November 26 KK turned 15 months.

November 11th:

She finally started walking at 14 1/2 months! I thought this day was never going to get here. She had been taking baby steps, falling down, then would reach and step towards us, but on November 11, she started walking and there was no stopping her! We were at the hospital for my grandpa and all of my family was there. Everyone was upset and crying due to the news we had just received about how my grandpa was doing. Kennedi was unstoppable that night. Everyone helped us out by chasing her around the ICU waiting room. From that day on, she has been all over the place!

November 23rd:

KK's first haircut! I know, your probably thinking really....but really! She has some wild hair. It grows really long on the right side. So I had to do something. A longtime family friend cuts hair in Decatur and has done most of my haircuts....especially when I was younger. Over Thanksgiving break, my mom and I took her to Patti to give KK her first haircut! I was afraid she was going to cry and squirm around like most kids first haircuts, but she did fantastic! Take a look...

November 25th:

I came up with a grand plan for my sister and I to help my mom out with Thanksgiving Dinner since she has been so busy and tired from being up at the hospital with my grandpa. We baked all of the sweets the night before. I made my very first pumpkin log roll and triple layer pumpkin pie all by myself. My sister made a fabulous pumpkin pie and another log roll. We also tackled deviled eggs, which were a beating!

November 26th: {aka, Thanksgiving Day}

We arrived at my mom's around 11:00 to finish up so we could eat around 2:00 and then relax and watch the Cowboy game. It was another difficult Thanksgiving this year, due to my papaw being in the hospital again this year. However, this year he was way worse. My grandma's spirits were down, but we did our best cheering her up. Check out the slideshow for Thanksgiving Pictures from that day.

November 27th:

Gavin's mom always works on Thanksgiving Day, so we do Thanksgiving with his family on the Friday afterwards. Works out perfectly for us because we don't have to rush around trying to be at two places at once. I captured a few snapshots of KK playing with a few of her toys at her Nana's.

I have never seen this before, but she loves this roller coaster thing!

ICE at the Gaylord:

After dinner at Gavin's moms house we went to meet up with the Baker's to see the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord. We have never been there before but heard it was cool to see. Everyone also said it was too cold and we shouldn't bring the kids. We decided to bring them and just bundle them up. When we pulled up to the Gaylord, OMG, it was a mess to park! People everywhere! We finally got to the front of the hotel and met up with the Bakers. It took 30 minutes to park, so naturally we were late, but it still ended up being okay because there were long lines for the exhibit once you got inside. Once they gave us the parkas we put them on like everyone else did. Well, as you can probably guess, KK & Macie didn't like them too much. We were chasing them around, trying to hold them and keep them happy for about 45 minutes....all while wearing heavy warm clothes!!! Once we finally entered the exhibit it actually felt good to us. I will admit I thought she was cold, but her daddy carried her through most of the exhibit. After we got out, we took off her parka, then her ski bibs, then her jacket, and guess what....she was sweating!!! She was fine...not too cold for her at all. (If you look in some of the pics, her nose looks so red though) It was fun and will definitely be a tradition. I think next year we might try to stay the night at the hotel. They have breakfast with Santa and other cool things for the kids to do that relate to the exhibit theme.

November 30th:

This is the day that my grandpa went to heaven. We will always love and miss him so much! He has fought a long hard battle and he is finally at peace and happy for the first time in years. November has been really rough and we sort of knew it was going to be sometime this month, but we didn't know exactly when. My family is strong and has really held it together.

My grandma is doing good considering everything. We are trying to keep her busy and to keep her positive. What better way to do this than to go shopping and buy new shoes and get a gym membership. For those of you who know mimi she loves these pittiful shoes that cost like a $1 and have absolutely no support. She is diabetic, so this is ridiculous for her feet. She has diabetic shoes but hates them because they are so bulky and not cute. (It's true...not cute, but needs the support) My mom took her to buy some SAS shoes. She loves them! Where have they been all these years? Mom has hooked mimi up with her trainer to keep her energy levels up and to maybe loose a few pounds to better her health. :) Mimi says she is enjoying it. I hope she sticks with it! :)

1st Birthday Party

KK's 1st Bithday party was a huge success! We had a polka dot cupcake party. We decided to have two parties since we were having it at our house. We had a family party at 10:00 and then a friend party at 4:00. Instead of presents we asked our friends to donate money to the Peter Pan Birthday Club. I just received a letter that she raised $275! That's awesome! The money goes to Cook Children's hospital to help children who are less fortunate. Thanks everyone!
